Health & Safety
For Dogs
To ensure the health and safety of all pets in our care, we require documentation from a licensed veterinary clinic confirming your dog is current on the following:
- Rabies – Valid for 1 to 3 years, based on the dog’s age and vaccine used.
- Distemper/Parvovirus (DHPP or similar combo vaccine) – Valid for 1 to 3 years depending on vaccine protocol.
- Bordetella (Kennel Cough) – Must be administered within the past 6–12 months, depending on the vaccine type.
All vaccination records must be submitted before your pet can be admitted for boarding. For optimal effectiveness, we recommend that vaccines be given at least two weeks prior to their visit.
For Cats
Cats must also be current on the following vaccines:
- Rabies – 1 to 3 years, based on age and vaccine schedule.
- FVRCP (Feline Distemper Combo) – Covers Feline Panleukopenia (Distemper), Rhinotracheitis, and Calicivirus. Valid for 1 to 3 years depending on vaccination protocol.
Why Are Vaccines So Important?
Your pet may be exposed to various infectious agents during their lifetime, even indoor pets. Viruses can travel in the air, in clothing, or through direct contact. Vaccinations are a safe, cost-effective way to prevent many life-threatening illnesses and help protect not only your pet, but the entire pet community. Always consult with your veterinarian regarding your pet’s specific health needs.
Disease Information
Rabies
A deadly disease affecting the nervous system of all mammals, including humans. Since there is no cure once symptoms appear, routine vaccination is essential and required by law in many areas.
Canine Distemper
A serious viral illness that impacts the respiratory and central nervous systems. Symptoms can include fever, nasal discharge, vomiting, seizures, and in many cases, can be fatal. It is highly contagious among dogs.
Parvovirus
An aggressive and often fatal gastrointestinal virus, especially in young puppies and certain breeds like Rottweilers and Dobermans. Transmitted via infected feces, symptoms include severe vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy.
Bordetella (Kennel Cough)
A contagious upper respiratory condition characterized by a persistent, dry cough. Spread through the air or direct contact, it’s particularly risky in high-density pet environments. While treatable, it can be more severe in young or immune-compromised dogs.
Feline Panleukopenia (Feline Distemper)
A dangerous, highly infectious virus that attacks rapidly dividing cells in the body. Transmitted through bodily fluids, feces, or fleas, it causes vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, and can be fatal.
Feline Rhinotracheitis
Caused by the feline herpesvirus, this illness affects the respiratory system and is spread through contact with infected cats or contaminated objects. Common signs include sneezing, eye discharge, and nasal congestion.
Feline Calicivirus
A widespread virus that impacts a cat’s respiratory system, mouth, and joints. Symptoms range from ulcers on the tongue to lameness, fever, and pneumonia. It spreads easily through saliva and secretions.

Yes—climate-controlled indoor playrooms and secure, safe shaded outdoor yards.
We work hard to keep playtime clean, safe, and supervised—but any fully interactive environment (think schools or offices) comes with everyday germ exposure. While issues are uncommon, across the many visits we host each year we occasionally see minor bumps like a pulled muscle, a small scratch, an occasional nip, or a case of kennel cough (similar to a human cold). Our strict cleaning routines, vaccination requirements, and close supervision keep risks low, and we’ll always contact you right away if we ever have a concern.
For everyone’s health, we ask that you wait 7 days after any visit to a veterinary clinic before coming to daycare or boarding. Clinics treat many sick pets, and germs can hitch a ride even when your pup seems fine. This brief buffer also lets you watch for any vaccine side effects.
Exception: If your pet received vaccinations from a mobile vet (no clinic exposure) and is feeling well, they’re welcome to join us right away.
If your furbaby had surgery, sedation, or was seen for an illness, please follow your vet’s guidance—which may mean waiting longer than 7 days. Thanks for helping keep our playgroup healthy!
